A promotional event for the seventh China International Import Expo took place on April 25 in Cotonou, the capital of Benin, drawing over 300 representatives from Benin's political, business, and academic sectors.

Benin's minister of industry and trade emphasized that the CIIE is an ideal platform for bringing high-quality products from various countries into the Chinese market, expressing hope that more premium goods from Benin will feature at the seventh edition of the expo this year. At the sixth CIIE, Benin's pineapples made their debut in China and quickly gained popularity among visitors.

The CIIE has created new business opportunities for agricultural products from Benin and other African nations classified as least developed. Against this backdrop, the seventh CIIE has organized many promotional events across Africa.

Representatives from African food exhibitors noted that they have already sensed Chinese consumers' enthusiasm for Benin's pineapples and hope for more chances to increase their brand recognition. Countries like Togo and Ethiopia could also leverage the CIIE to showcase their products and seek cooperation.

According to the CIIE Bureau, the number of least developed countries expected to participate in the seventh CIIE will increase to around 35, with the number of participating enterprises plus free booths available to them expected to reach 120. Their exhibition area is estimated to span 2,500 square meters, a 20 percent increase from the previous year.
